    Position Summary

    We are currently seeking a skilled Echocardiographer to join our ICAEL-certified echo department. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our patient-first mission, performing adult echocardiography, stress echoes, and vascular studies in an outpatient setting. You will be responsible for obtaining and reviewing patient histories, producing precise diagnostic images according to department protocols, and providing our cardiologists with detailed preliminary reports.

    Major Areas of Responsibility

    • Greets and prepares patients for the appropriate ultrasound procedure.
    • Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams by producing, assessing, and evaluating quality ultrasound images according to department protocols.
    • Obtains, reviews, and incorporates pertinent patient history, physician examination, and supporting clinical data to facilitate diagnostic results.
    • Provides detailed preliminary reports to the interpreting physicians.
    • Skill and confidence to communicate effectively to physicians urgent findings that may require immediate medical attention.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
    • Maintains a clean and neat work environment
    • Maintains ultrasound equipment and reports any maintenance issues immediately to the Department Supervisor

    Work Environment

    • The work involves considerable physical exertion such as frequent lifting of patients, equipment, bending, stooping and walking
    • Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, i.e., risk of exposure to contagious disease, radiation or infection, or working with emotionally disturbed patients.
    • Precautions are routine for nearly all situations.
    • The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear.
    • Can be very noisy at times.
    • Good hearing essential, assisted or unassisted
    • Exposure to moving parts, cords, tubes and belts

    Supervision
    Reports directly to Department Supervisor

    Professional Development

    • Attends required Quality Improvement meetings
    • Maintains appropriate Continuing Medical Education requirements according to ICAEL and ARDMS/CCI
    • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations to stay current with changes in the field

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Ability to remain calm and react effectively in emergency situations
    • Works well independently as well as in a team setting
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic EKG
    • Knowledge of current echocardiography guidelines
    • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
    • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
    • Ability to remain calm and react effectively in emergency situations.
    • Works well independently as well as in a team setting

    Education and Experience

    • Graduate of an Accredited Echocardiography Program.
    • Minimum of three years of experience

    Licensure / Certification

    • RDCS/RCS required or registry eligible with completion within 6 months of hire
    • BLS certification
