RFA Venous Ablation for Varicose Veins
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), or venous ablation, is one of our many specialties here at Stockton Cardiology, your cardiology medical group. In order to treat varicose veins, we employ RFA technology and techniques in order to destroy diseased vein tissue.
About the Procedure
If you suffer from varicose veins, your cardiologist will first determine which veins should be removed. A catheter is pushed into affected veins, and upon reaching the end of the affected tissue, radio energy is emitted along the length of a vein to destroy the vein tissue. These veins seal, die off, and are eventually absorbed by the body. Blood flow naturally reroutes to other veins.
Are There Risks Involved?
While there are risks involved with RFA treatments, venous ablation is considered to have low rates of complications. If you’re concerned about risks associated with RFA, speak to your cardiologist. RFA is a minimally invasive procedure.
