Interventional Cardiovascular Procedures

Your treatment may include minimally invasive procedures such as:

  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
A procedure to replace a narrowed aortic valve with a prosthetic valve without open-heart surgery, performed through a thin tube (catheter).
  • Cardiac Catheterization
A diagnostic procedure involving the insertion of a catheter into a blood vessel to visualize the heart’s chambers, valves, and arteries, and to measure heart function.
  • Angioplasty and Stenting
A minimally invasive procedure to open blocked arteries in which a balloon-tipped catheter is inserted and inflated, often followed by stent placement to maintain artery openness.
  • Atherectomy
A minimally invasive medical procedure used to remove plaque buildup from the walls of arteries. The procedure can usually be done through a small catheter inserted in an artery near the groin or arm.

Implantable Cardiac Device Procedures

  • Pacemaker Implant
A pacemaker insertion is the implantation of a small electronic device that is usually placed in the chest (just below the collarbone) to help regulate slow electrical problems with the heart.
  • Pacemaker Generator Exchange
This is a procedure to replace a battery that has reached end of life in the Pacemaker device.
  • Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) Implant
An Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator is a small electronic device that is implanted into the chest to monitor and correct an abnormal heart rhythm, or arrhythmia.
  • AICD Generator Exchange
This is a procedure to replace a battery that has reached end of life in the AICD device.
  • Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR)
An implantable loop recorder is a very small heart rhythm monitoring device that stays in place under the skin of the chest. The device records heart rhythm continuously for up to three years.
